Preposity was launched in June 2011, London England.
It aims to explore the timeless style that is often referred to (for better or worse) as ‘preppy’ and the culture that it accompanies.
This is a style that spans the Atlantic, hinting at the historic links between the UK and the East Coast of the US. There are paralells that can be drawn between the East Coast’s Ivy League universities and Oxford and Cambridge in England, as well as a cross-atlantic cultural and sartorial exchange that has added to both US and UK style. Where the UK offerred handmade hard-wearing fabrics such as Harris Tweed and Scottish wool, the US lent us a more relaxed attitude to dressing.
The preppy mentality is borne out of practicality and heritage, although a ‘prep’ never takes himself too seriously. It’s about quality not price, timelessness, not trends. This always seemed to me to be a logical attitude to dressing.
